Remember last year when Scarlett Johansson was spotted in Taipei filming a Luc Besson film called Lucy? Well, the trailer is finally here, and besides Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman, the third star of the film we are really glad to see is Taipei City itself.
The two and a half minute trailer features gorgeous shots of Taipei City and many of its landmarks including Taipei 101, Xinyi District, Regents Taipei, Club Myst, the entrance of Heping East Road and Taoyuan International Airport.
Keen-eyed audiences will also spot cameos from Taiwanese entertainers Ken Lin (阿Ken) and Xing Feng (邢峰) as a taxi driver.
Besson, Johansson and crew were spotted in Taipei filming in October last year. The crew wrapped up filming in a short 11 days, with the schedule reportedly cut short. Besson later slammed Taiwanese paparazzi for hounding them during shoots, although he denied reports that he left the island early because of the paparazzi’s actions.
Directed by France’s director, producer and writer Besson (Léon: The Professional, The Fifth Element, Taken), Lucy stars Johansson as a woman living in Taipei who is forced to become a drug mule for a mob. The drugs implanted in her body then leaks into her system, turning her into a superhuman. The film also features Freeman, who was not spotted filming in Taiwan. Lee Chun, the son of Taiwanese director Ang Lee, is also supposed to make an appearance in the film (although we didn’t see him in the trailer).
The film is scheduled to hit theaters in Taiwan in August. Will you be going to see it?
